COHP 2120 - Growth and Development for Health Professions (3 Credits)
The purpose of this course is to introduce the highly complex individual and family during the lifespan - from birth to death. The focus is on the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual dimensions of the developing person. These dimensions will be explored in the context of the family and community setting. Integration of health promotion, risk reduction, and anticipatory guidance during the lifespan will be emphasized. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.

COHP 2130 - Emergency Medical Responder (3 Credits)
Emergency Medical Responders have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. EMRs provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive including basic life support, bleeding control, assessing vital signs, patient assessment, splinting, and much more. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. This course serves as a foundation for all health-related programs by teaching the necessary fundamental skills to provide care in an emergency situation and also prepares students for entry-level into the emergency medical services profession. After successful completion of a OEMST approved EMR program, graduates may take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMR certification exam if they choose to do so thereby creating the opportunity for employment in a variety of prehospital, industrial, and public service settings.
